A Summer Employment Initiative
for teens on the North Shore
2009
First Jobs aims to provide summer employment for teens. Why? The numbers speak for themselves: According to the Northeastern University Center for Labor Market Studies, there are more unemployed youth today than at any other time since World War II, and an estimated 23,000 of those working teens (14 - 19 years) reside on the North Shore.
These facts, combined with the clear need for working age youth to devlop essential work skills early in life have led to the creation of this program.
As a North Shore business or non-profit/public organization, we would like to invite you to be a part of this vital initiative:
-Hiring a teen this summer, or
-Contributing money so that local non-profit and public organizations can hire teens.
We invite you to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute to the development of tomorrow's workforce, help teens develop career goals, and benefit the communities you work and live in. If you are a non-profit/public organization and are interested in having teens work at your organization please review our F1rstJobs RFP.
Here is our Final Report for F1rstJobs 2008.
*Businesses who are interested in hiring or sponsoring a teen do not have to fill out the First Jobs RFP, simply fill out and submit the enrollment/sponsorhip form attached to the First Jobs Brochure.
